The Eastern PA Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry asks churches to observe Campus Ministry Sunday August 19 or on a more convenient Sunday from now through September. Churches are asked to receive a special offering to support campus ministry efforts in our conference.
Congregations involved in local campus ministries themselves may designate up to 50 percent of their voluntary, second-mile offerings to support those ongoing ministries. The rest should be forwarded to the Conference Office to aid in our connectional, conference-wide collegiate support efforts
Our Campus Ministry board includes, and has been working with, four campus ministers in our region:
- David Piltz at Drexel University’s Open Door Community in Philadelphia — email@example.com;
- The Rev. Paul Clark at Albright College in Reading — firstname.lastname@example.org;
- The Rev. Daniel Lebo at Lebanon Valley College in Annville — email@example.com; and
- Ed Weber at Millersville University — firstname.lastname@example.org.
Albright and Lebanon Valley are colleges historically related to The United Methodist Church, while Drexel and Millersville have long had UM-affiliated campus ministries.
These campus ministers, and perhaps some of their student leaders, may be available to speak at nearby churches that celebrate Campus Ministry Sunday.
In addition, clergy and lay board members with a heart for campus ministry are exploring potential relationships with East Stroudsburg University, West Chester University and Pennsylvania College of Art & Design in Lancaster. For more information contact the Rev. Jason Perkowski, board chairman.
