As we continue to look toward General Conference 2016 I call you to prayer for the Pre-General Conference Briefing which will be held January 20-22, 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Heads of General Conference delegations and church leaders will be briefed about the issues that General Conference will be discussing and a number of practical logistics will be explained.

Among the many topics are the following: connectionalism, global ministries, proposed changes for pastors and bishops, the four areas of focus, Christian conferencing using a new model, ethnic initiatives, revision of the Social Principles and various proposals to change the denominational structure.

“Gracious God, be with the leaders of our delegations as they travel to Portland in January. May they catch a glimpse of the way this conference will be conducted and communicate back to our conferences the many nuances that this briefing will present. May love rule the day in all that they say and do and may they have the stamina and grace for the many hours of meetings. Amen.”
