Come meet and hear Lt. Colonel Sherrol James, a U.S. Air Force Chaplain, speak at the Eastern PA Conference UM Men’s Annual Prayer Breakfast July 18. Join us for good food, great fellowship and an inspiring message at Tindley Temple UMC, 750 S. Broad St. at Fitzwater St., (near the Kimmel Center) Philadelphia, from 9 to 11 AM. Just a $5 donation is requested. Free parking in the church lot. Near SEPTA train and bus stops.

And don’t miss the chance to see Lt. Col. James throw out the ceremonial first pitch, while you enjoy United Methodist Night with the Philliesat Citizens Bank Park. Baseball’s Philadelphia Phillies will face the Miami Marlins at 7 PM. Bring your friends, family and fellow church members. Bring your neighbors and coworkers. Join us as we root for the home team and celebrate our United Methodist presence at the Park. And come hear New Hanover UMC’s choir sing the National Anthem!

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Lt. Col. Sherrol James is a member of our sister Peninsula-Delaware Conference. Stationed now at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, she has served all over the world, with recent assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan. She is donating her time and financing this trip on her own.

“We are honored to have her visit us in the Eastern PA Conference,” says Ross Brightwell, UMM President. “Let us all join together and make Chaplain James feel very welcome.

“Here is a great opportunity for United Methodist Men particularly to come together for fellowship, to show our support for our military, to show our support for women pastors and to be inspired by one of our great United Methodist Chaplains. Let us make a special effort to especially invite our sons and grandsons” (and even invite our daughters to meet a true role model).

Please make prayer breakfast reservations by emailing Delno Moyer at drm3@zoominternet.net, or call him at (484) 886-0950, preferably by Monday, July 13.

Also, Lt. Col. James will preach Sunday, July 19, at New Hanover UMC 2211 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA. Services are at 8, 9 and 10;30 AM.
