Jarrettown UMC, of Dresher, PA, hosted the 21st Annual EPA Conference United Methodist Men’s Softball Tournament at Mondauk Commons Park on a beautiful Saturday morning, July 19.  Eight church teams competed, and Bethany UMC of Wescosville won the tournament championship.

Jarrettown UMC took second place. Other churches participating playing were Grove UMC, Hopewell UMC, Kenton UMC of the Pen-Del Conf., New Hanover UMC, El Redentor & St. Paul’s UMC, and Calvary Assembly of God.

UMM President Ross Brightwell was the Tournament Commissioner. He and the Rev. Walt Unterberger of of Jarrettown UMC led morning devotions prior to the games.  Dr. Ron Myers of Jefferson Hospital, also a member of Jarrettown UMC, spoke about cancer prevention as part of the devotions.

This UMM Tournament was a great success.  The weather was perfect, the softball was first rate, but most importantly the spirit of Christian fellowship permeated every player.

We hope teams from other churches in the EPA Conference will join us next year.  If you do not have a team please get in touch with Ross Brightwell ( ) about starting one.  This is a great way to reach out to the young men and women in our communities.
