Information, volunteers needed to respond to storm damages

The heavy rain across the Delaware Valley has caused flooding issues along area roads, creeks and rivers, prompting some evacuations and road closures in many areas. We have been notified of flooding in the following areas:

  • Philadelphia area – Schuylkill River:  Manayunk; Fairmount Park area
Montgomery County – Schuylkill River: Conshohocken; West Norriton
Chester County –  Brandywine River:  Chadds Ford; Chester; Marple Township and Darby Borough

As cleanup will be needed in the coming weeks, all churches are asked to share information about damages in their districts with their District Disaster Coordinators.

Pictured here are EPA’s Early Response Team Coordinator Bob Simcox (left) and Disaster Response Coordinator Debra DePrinzio.

The Disaster Response Ministry is working closely with local Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs) and municipalities to determine the needs in the storm damage areas. Cleanup will be going on for a few months. We want to be prepared to go out into our communities to serve those in need. Resources are going to be needed, so the more information we can gather, they better our response will be.

Also, we are also still responding to damage reports from the winter ice storms. More volunteers are needed. Please contact your Early Response Team (ERT) Trainer/Coordinator Bob Simcox ( if you are interested in assembling a team to respond. Your help is needed!

Here are your District Disaster Coordinators:
