Disaster response team honored for service to community

Bob Simcox (left) and Debra DePrinzio (right), both active in conference disaster response, were honored by the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management at a ceremony at the Fairmount Water Works in Philadehia on Wednesday, April 25.

The Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management recognized the efforts of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (SEPA VOAD) during a ceremony for Volunteer Week 2012 in Philadelphia.

Last year following Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, 24 volunteers from four SEPA VOAD agencies responded to Philadelphia’s call for assistance. The response teams helped residents clean out and recover from the damaging flood waters associated with those storms.
United Methodists honored were Debra Deprinzio, EPA Conference Disaster Response Coordinator, Bob Simcox, Lynn Jaeger and Gary Jaeger.
