The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Board of Trustees has established a joint Employee/Management Safety Committee that seeks to maintain the quality of life of our employees by providing work places free from recognized and controllable hazards.

Learning from experience is an excellent technique, but when it comes to risk management issues, it can be an expensive and dangerous one.
Risk Alert is a tool designed to allow religious organizations to learn from the losses of others.
As we study the claims filed by our customers, looking at individual losses and identifying trends, we develop loss control techniques to reduce the risk of those losses. Those techniques are published in our Risk Alerts. New Alerts are added on a regular basis.
Several Church Mutual customers have been in very serious one-vehicle rollover accidents during the past few years. Most have been with 15-passenger vans and resulted in serious injuries. Several of the accidents involved multiple fatalities.
The leading causes of 15-passenger van accidents are driver error, poor maintenance, and tire blowouts. With the proper steps, you can help prevent these rollovers and reduce the seriousness of injuries when they do occur.
Church Mutual recommends organizations not use 15-passenger vans; however, if you must use one, become familiar with the dangers and take steps to keep your travel safe.
Members, guests, and employees expect a safe environment when they enter your facility. Unfortunately, entrance areas are a common area for slips and falls. Church Mutual found that almost 20 percent of slips and falls at worship centers are caused by wet or icy surfaces. A small amount of water can present a real slip problem, whether it is from snow and slush during the winter months or rain and mud in the spring, summer, and fall.
Walk-off mats at all entrances are an excellent way to keep floors both dry and clean and help prevent falls on slippery surfaces.
