NEW!! It has come to our attention that more retirees than we imagined would prefer to stay in the EPAUMC Dental Plan for 2015. To accommodate this, The Board of Pension and Health Benefits will allow retired members to be automatically enrolled for 2015 if they are already enrolled in the current dental plan, unless they waive that coverage through AmWins. If you are not currently enrolled in MetLife Dental, you will have the opportunity to enroll once the plan design and costs have been set.
Due to a hefty increase over last years rate, the MetLife Dental has been put out to bid. We expect to have the cost for 2015 set by October 17th, 2014. Retirees will receive a notification of carrier and cost after this date.
Thank you for your patience as we work to satisfy your requests for coverage.
October is Retiree Open Enrollment month for the Eastern PA Conference! We have outsourced our plan enrollment and administration to a group called AmWins, Inc. Packets were mailed to retirees on September 28th and should be in your hands sometime this week. Please note, EPAUMC’s open enrollment has begun a little earlier than Medicare Open Enrollment, so while AmWins may be able to provide individual plan and rate information for 2015, they may not enroll you until October 16th.
You will have the choice of enrolling in a plan similar to your current coverage, or the flexibility of selecting from a variety of individual plans available in your area. If you (or your spouse) are age 65 or older, this will replace your current plan through Aetna, which expires on December 31, 2014. You must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B to be eligible. If you (or your spouse) are under age 65, you will receive an Active health care enrollment packet in November.
The group retiree healthcare plan also includes a comprehensive program to enhance the health and well-being of retirees. This program, called Manage My Health, is designed to offer greater assistance to our retirees and spouses by providing easy, confidential access to extensive programs and services that can improve physical and mental health. It includes 24 hour access to doctors on call with no copay, emergency identification cards, and extensive counseling for stress, depression, mental health, grief and bereavement. Manage My Health also includes programs for nutrition, wellness, and elder care planning for the caregivers of retirees. Information on all the new benefits of Manage My Health will be sent to you when you enroll in the group sponsored program.
The MetLife Dental Plan currently available to retirees will no longer be an option. However, AmWins will be available to assist you with enrollment in a dental plan on the exchange market.
As of January 1, 2015, you will no longer be eligible to have your health care cost deducted from your pension. Instead, you can elect to have your monthly payment automatically withdrawn from your checking account each month (ACH). A Direct Payment Authorization (ACH) form is part of your packet. Just complete and return the form along with your application for Enrollment.
If you select the EPAUMC Group Sponsored Benefit Package, you will receive a separate bill from AmWins for the amount you owe each month as indicated on the payment summary page enclosed in your packet. This amount is discounted by the amount of subsidy you receive from the conference.
If you enroll in an Individual Plan through the AmWins Medicare Exchange, EPAUMC will continue to contribute toward the cost of your coverage by funding a new Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) administered by Total Administrative Services Corp. (“TASC”). Once you pay your monthly bill directly to the health care carrier, you may complete a form to receive reimbursement from your HRA. This account will receive a monthly contribution from the conference with your subsidy. The amount of money put into your HRA by EPAUMC is intended to subsidize your monthly insurance costs. However, you may use these funds for other qualified healthcare expenses as well. If you have unused funds in your HRA at year end, the balance will rollover for the next calendar year.
You are encouraged to make use of the excellent Help Desk offered by AmWins. We have a group of consultants specifically assigned to EPA Retirees. This is not an automated response system! You will talk with a live representative, and you are encouraged to build a relationship with them and ask for them by name when calling with questions. For questions about your enrollment, call AmWins toll-free at 1-877-278-5992, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (Eastern).
Group Program enrollment forms and individual plan enrollments must be received by October 31, 2014 to activate your benefits for a January 1, 2015 effective date.
