If your church has a clergy person appointed at less than 50% (for full appointment, inclusive of multi point charges), The Annual Conference encourages you to contribute to their pension!
While General Conference stipulates that persons appointed less than 50% are no longer eligible to contribute to the Clergy Retirement Security Plan (CRSP), The Eastern PA Conference voted to encourage churches to contribute an amount equal to at least 2% of compensation to their United Methodist Personal Investment Program (UMPIP).
To make sure all is in place for the transition on January 1, 2014, an Adoption Agreement should be completed by December 1, 2013 and submitted to the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits. This adoption agreement allows the church to tailor the pension to suit their needs and allows the clergy person to contribute as well.
All billing for UMPIP comes directly from the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits and will not appear on your remittance form.
