Grants to Assist in Defraying Higher Education Costs

Education Society GrantsThe Education Society of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church will be offering a number of Grants to assist worthy individuals with defraying the cost of higher education for the 2013-2014 school year.  The attached pages describe the opportunity and method of application.

Since there are some deadlines, it is important that this information be provided to church members who plan to attend an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2013.  Please communicate this grant opportunity to your congregation as soon as possible.

Loan & Scholarship Opportunities

Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Scholarships for undergraduate college students.

     Print an application.  Deadlines are March 1 (for fall semester) and November 1 (for spring semester). 

Scholarships are offered for both undergraduate and seminary students.  The EPA Conference Board of Ordained Ministry offers seminary scholarships.

General Board of Higher Education and Ministry

The United Methodist Scholarship and Loan Programs are a churchwide educational service providing scholarships and loans to help supplement the financial needs of today's students. Funding for these scholarships and loans are provided through offerings, wills, annuities, and other designated gifts. Through the Loan Program, students may borrow up to $5,000 per year at 5 percent interest (Five for Five program). The 135-year-old United Methodist Student Loan Fund is the oldest student loan fund in the United States.
