Disaster Assistance Available

Emergency Declaration:
Governor Corbett had issued a State of Emergency for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Any damages cause by Hurricane Sandy may be covered by FEMA.

Pennsylvania Emergency Management Administration (PEMA) has to report all damages done in our state to FEMA. This helps FEMA determine the funding that will be made available to Pennsylvania for our recovery. If we do not report the damages, monies that could help our community recover will be diverted to other states.

EVERYONE is asked to report any storm damage to their borough or town officials so that statistics can be gathered including:

Flood buckets come to Eastern PA from UMCOR

Students from Penn unload flood bucketsThe fraternity/sorority community from the University of Pennsylvania, attending leadership training at Camp Innabah, helped the Conference Disaster Response Team to unload a shipment of flood buckets from Mission Central.  The flood buckets will be used for clean up area homes and businesses due to the recent flooding caused by hurricanes and rain storms.

Debra DePrinzio, Eastern Pennsylvania Diasaster Response Coordinator, recently picked up a shipment of flood buckets which arrived for our conference from UMCOR.

She said, “On Saturday, I drove out to Mission Central in Mechanicsburg to pick up flood buckets. They loaded up the 15' box truck I rented and gave us 336 buckets that were recently shipped from UMCOR’s Sager Brown Depot in Louisiana.   We are storing the flood buckets at Camp Innabah with the help of Christy Heflin and her staff.

A leadership group from the University of Pennsylvania helped us to unload the truck and they have provided pictures. They were at Innabah for leadership training. They were quite a blessing!

I know we are using our collection points, and that they are beginning to receive donations of flood buckets, but we did not have enough buckets at these locations to meet the need.

The need for flood buckets is great.  Chester County has just asked for 50 and Montgomery County has asked for 60. This doesn't even include the requests that will come in from our northern counties along the Susquehanna. They are still waiting for the water to recede.”

Cleaning Buckets needed and local collection points

Waterways are flooding as some areas of southeastern Pennsylvania received another 10" of rain.  This follows closely on the heels of the flooding caused by Hurricane Irene last week.

Our local Emergency Response Teams are requesting that each of our churches collect flood buckets for use in local clean up.
