Rev. John H. Shenk

Word has been received of the death of The Rev. John H. Shenk, 77, a retired Elder on the Northwest District, who passed away on May 5, 2010.

Rev. Shenk served the following appointments on the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference: the former Mount Pisgah in Philadelphia; and Hebron in Lebanon, where he served for 30 years from 1968 until his retirement in 1998.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Hebron United Methodist Church, 5thand Walnut Street, Lebanon. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:15 p.m.  Inurnment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.

Rev. Shenk is survived by his wife, Ruth, daughter Donna J., spouse of Jon Dunlop, a son Richard, spouse ofLynn Shenk, and two grandchildren.

Rev. John H. Shenk, 77, of 1136 Nowlen Street, Lebanon, died on Wednesday, May 05, 2010 at his home. He was born on Monday, October 17, 1932 to the late H. Lester Shenk and Esther Shenk nee Degler in Lancaster. He was a veteran of the Navy in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired pastor from Hebron United Methodist Church. He was also serving on Developmental and Disability Service Board and Board of County of Lebanon Transit (COLT). Surviving are wife Ruth N. Shenk nee Nichols, Lebanon; daughter Donna J. spouse of Jon Dunlap, Lebanon; son Richard A. spouse of Lynn Shenk, Maple Plain, MN; grandchildren Elsbeth Grossfield, Jonathan Shenk. visitation will be on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM at Hebron United Methodist Church, 5th ave. and Walnut Street, Lebanon. Memorial services will be on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the church. Inurnment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, on Friday May 21, 2010 at 10:00AM.
