The Foundation currently manages $27 million for over 100 different United Methodist churches and agencies. We invest accounts through our Pooled Funds, with different levels of customization for accounts of different sizes. The Foundation runs a Pooled Bond Fund and two equity funds - the Pooled Equity Growth Fund and the Pooled Equity Core Fund.
Accounts between $5,000 and $150,000 in size
Invest in our Fixed Asset Allocation Fund (also known as Pooled Fund 3) with a 50% stock and a 50% bond investment mix. Income is paid quarterly; statements are mailed quarterly; deposits can be made monthly and withdrawals quarterly.
Accounts greater than $150,000 in size
Invest directly in our Pooled Bond Fund and Pooled Equity Funds in a customized asset allocation. Income is paid monthly; statements are mailed monthly; deposits and withdrawals can be made monthly.
Investment philosophies held by the Foundation
Diversification is extremely important. Portfolios need exposure to at least 40-50 stocks. Don’t try to time sector movements (ie financial stocks vs. healthcare stocks). Always be invested in the best 4 or 5 stocks in each sector. Have exposure to different management styles such as growth investing and value investing. Abiding by the Social Principles of the Book of Discipline is critical to what we believe as United Methodists. (No companies involved in alcohol, tobacco, gambling or pornography.)
