In the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, The Basic Protection Plan (BPP) provides long-term disability and death benefits for lay employees of the Conference, Local Church and Church related organizations to hep them protect them and their families. The lay person must meet the requirements listed in the adoption agreement with the General Board.
BPP is a "church plan" as defined under section 414(e) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and section 3(33) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) as amended.
Plan Features
* Financial support in the event of disability or death
* Benefits are payable upon the death of participant, spouse, or child under the age of 19
* Rehabilitation and vocational training
* assistance with application for benefits from the Social Security Administration
* Lump sum death benefit
